Learning to Listen

"Be swift to hear, slow to speak . . ." (James 1:19b)

We are often so busy speaking that we don't take time to listen. We are so quick to offer a comment--negative or positive--that we don't really "hear" our husband's heart. Remember, we have two ears and only one mouth. We need to listen more!

This has been on my heart even before I started this husband challenge. I have been trying really hard to listen until he is completely through talking. Being that we know each other so well, we find ourselves finishing each other's sentences. That is great that we beat the same heart, however, I know it bother's me sometimes, so it MUST bother CR. Please encourage me and tell me that I am not the only wife that does this! :)

I have been challenging myself to listen more with everyone. So often I find myself going, "right, right" or "I totally know what you mean" while the person is still talking. So now I try to remember to let them completely finish and then say, "Oh I know ...." This is definately a challenge for me, because as you all know, I LOVE TO TALK. I need to LOVE to listen!
