Amber waves of grain ...
"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28 NIV).This is my life verse, but has especially been true this summer. So many things come up; my patience are tested time and time again and I have to remind myself that it will all work for good.
Since my last post we have been getting grain out of the field. Praise the Lord. It has been going smoothly compared to last year. A little rain at the beginning, but since we were so dry, we are still in a severe drought. Apparently there is something in the gulf called Dolly headed our way, so these next few days are going to be even more of a push than usual. So instead of 15 hours days, there may be some 18 hour days. All we have left (after today) is corn, and that can be cut with some humidity that comes around here after dark. Once the corn is out, WE ARE DONE! Stick a fork in us and call it what it is! We are thinking about a possible short river trip. Since we are farmers there are no trips that are lengthy, but I know for sure I could use a few days away from all this, so I know the boys are ready for a break.
It has been a real blessing to have Ryan with us the last three weeks. He adds even more character to our house. I love that he gets along so well with CR. Sometimes it is like I have my very own brother that I always asked mom and dad for. Sully, his puppy, has definitely been keeping Koda entertained. I am going to be sad for Koda when he leaves .. .she will not know what to do.

Mom, Kyleigh and Elizabeth were able to grace us with their presence for a few days. We bought material to make our own valances and I must say, momma did a great job. As soon as harvest is complete I am going to have CR help me hang them. We were able to go to South Padre Island for a day. Grandma was down there with her sister and her sister's family. It is so neat to see all 33 of them get together and enjoy each other for over a week. We are hoping that next year we can join them for longer. Family is just so neat; so special. Enjoy the one you have because they are what the good Lord has given you. Yes there are times of craziness, selfishness, bitterness and even jealousy; however, you can get over all that. Set it aside and love what you have.

I got a job! I am now a Calallen Wildcat. As of now I am not sure on the EXACT position. It is either freshman and seniors (what I am really praying for) or all sophomores. They did ask my preference in the interview, so maybe they will take that into consideration as they are planning out the year. Not sure when I will get to see my room, but I am hoping soon. This position is all thanks to the Lord above. I prayed for something in the district. Anything. Just to get in would be good. Then Kingsville kept calling and interviewing me. My thoughts shifted and I began to think that maybe there was a reason the Lord kept that coming back. Maybe there were some students there that the Lord really needed me to help. They offered me a position last Tuesday. I had a Calallen interview set up for Friday so I asked if they could wait until this week for me to decide. I prayed for direction cause I really did not know if the Lord was trying to teach me something here. Friday morning was crazy - couldn't find my car keys, the Dr. appt I had before my interview was stressful. So then I thought, well maybe this is all happening because I am not supposed to go there. But I prayed some more and the Lord kept leading me in that direction. I loved the interview - the people, the discussion, everything about it. When I went to the car I said to the Lord, "If this is where you want me I am there in a heartbeat. Do not let them even offer it if this is not where You need me." I hoped over to get a massage that had been given to me for CHRISTMAS (!!!) and while I was there there super of the district called. I called him back and he said, "I do not know what you did in there but they do not want me to wait till Monday to offer you the position." Praise the Lord. I had to share ALL of that with you so you would understand why I really felt that was the Lord's will for me. I am stoked! I am a Wildcat ... just like High School Musical.
We're all in this together ....
Here are some pics from the last few weeks. We have some BEAUTIFUL sunflowers growing up the road that I am going to take some snaps of and post. It is just a sea of yellow.
I took this in the mirror as he was walking away. Thought it was kind of cool. And a great view!

My youngest cousin driving that big ol' truck!
Taken through a window ... I kind of like those effects.
This was a storm rolling in ... can you see the sqwaul line?
