Ike flees from Tina ...

Apparently Tina really blew up Ike's brithches. According to GMA this morning, Ike is 70% larger than the average hurricane. Yowsers. Thankfully he is not as strong as some as we have had, but when you look at Ike on the radar, he is one bad dude.

It is ironic that we are having this bad dude of a hurricane this week. This week started off like a huge hurricane. They had to balance classes at our school, and let's just say that Monay some students felt like Ike and some teachers felt like Tina. Some teachers were overwhelmed with the changes; others just embraced it and went with the flow. I will let you guess what category I fell in to. :) Anyhow, Monday after I saw the reaction of some of the teachers and as the day went on and attitudes got down, one of my favorite verses popped in my head.
Isaiah 40:31 (NKJV) "But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."
I love this verse because it reminds us that if we have the Lords as our strength, he will not allow us to grow weary. We have Him to count on to get us through, no matter what happens in life. How encouraging is that??!!

Tuesday and Wednesday I had to be at an ESL training conference so I missed out on how the rest of the week went. Not sure if things got better, but I sure hope they did. Then school was cancelled Thursday and Friday. I was not excited about this. I like my weather days in the second semester when I am about to pull my hair out after TAKs. However, the way Ike WAS looking showed that he was going to come through and hit Corpus right on. So the superintendents of all the surrounding districts called off school.

Some exciting news for me: I was asked to be the Sophomore class sponsor. I am so excited about this. This class of Sophomores rocks. They remind me of my class in high school. Involved, fun and good attitudes. I get to move up with them each year which means next year we do PROM. I know, I know; sometimes I feel like I am stuck in high school. I had so much fun when I was there, what a great job to get to play with it all over again!

I have finally gotten a hold of some pictures of Kyleigh from the first week of school. Happy viewing; she is a doll.

Does this picture remind you all of anyone in particular?

In class ready to go!

Grammy and Kyleigh are at the same school!

At the park over the weekend.
