The Virtue of Patience

Spiders must have the most patience in the insect world. More so than humans for sure. I can not fathom making something this beautiful and intrinsic, just for it to probably get ruined by nightfall that evening. My whole life I have heard the phrase, "Patience is a virtue, Lauren". This I know, for the Bible tells me so. I am an extremally patient person. Apparently only when it comes to humans and animals. I am a teacher, wife, sister, daughter, and the mother of a one year old Weimer and 8 year old lab. When it comes to being patient on the Lord and His timing, I am not so hot. I have prayed about this over and over for years. I know that everything is in His timing. God is never late or early. I continue to hear the whisper ... be still and know (Ps. 46:10). Yet, why can I not live that? Why is it that daily I can put up with lying, potty-mouthed, disrespectful students, but I can not sit aside long enough to let go and let God? I thought that as I grew older, and as some say wiser, I would become more patient. That I would learn and mature in the Lord. I know I have a long way to go. I almost wonder if it is the Lord's way of keeping us humbled and knelt before Him. He is the one with the ultimate patience. Oh how I attain to have a grain of that.

"And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverence; and perseverence, character; and character, hope. Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us." Romans 5:3-5
