Back to the Vet

I really wish I could write about something other than poor Koda at the moment, but it seems that she is all that is "happening" right now. By Thursday she was still doing great after her minor head surgery. Thursday night I noticed a little puffiness, but CR said that was normal; Ray said that meant it was healing. They are so not vets! By Friday morning it was much more puffy, and by Saturday I thought her poor staples were being stretched to capacity. She was uncomfortable you could tell. I imagine she was one big walking headache. I persuaded CR to take her in and they were sure glad we did. Apparently it was a bigger deal then he, Ray and the vet we spoke with on the phone thought. But Lauren knew~ I just knew it was not right. The vet had given her an anti-inflammatory and she was INFLAMED; something was wrong. 7 hours later we picked her up from the vet looking like this (if you have a weak tummy you may not want to go on)...

I (of course) cried as soon as I saw her. She hates her cone and has to stay in the laundry room. Basically they stuck tubes into each side of her head so that the inflammation (that is what is all over the inside of her cone) could drain for the next few days. It is basically her bodies reaction to whatever they removed last Monday. She had to undergo all this through surgery, and the tubes, stitches and original staples will be removed on Wednesday.

Check out the mess she made the first 3 minutes she was locked in the room. I just feel so badly for her. I may set up a cot in there tonight to keep her company.

We did have a super great visit with Katherine, Jody, Caleb and Porter this week. Katherine and the twins came on Monday night, so that was CR's "work" for the week since it rained every single day. So while he played with the boys and watched duck shows all day with them, Lauren brought home the bacon! :) I love to say that now. It is so refreshing to be working again. On that note ....

I love my new school thus far. Of course no students yet, but the atmosphere, my team, the admins, everyone is super. Make me feel right at home. I feel like I have taught there for years already. I am excited to see this school year unfold. Some new stuff I have never taught or read, so I am pumped cause you know I love to learn new things. The curriculum is nothing like what I taught at Magnolia or what I had in Montgomery, so I am looking forward to it. I went through my TAKs scores for the students that I will be getting last night and I have a good mix of failures, passes and commended. The good thing ... the commended surpass the failures. The bad thing, I had some fails. Another good thing ... Calallen has brought in 3 new "programs" to reach out to the at-risk and middle of the road kiddos. I am psyched, like I said, to see it all put to work!
That tis all for now ... I will update when I can, I promise. Our fall semester is pretty packed, but I will keep you in touch as I can. Pray for Koda and our patience! I say she is definitely preparing us for the kind of work kids can be!
