Koda is a Knothead

We have always known she was a knot head, but now it is literal! Last Monday Koda went to work with her daddy. She headed out the door so excited and chipper to be tagging along side with CR. She did not return in such a splendor. Apparently at some point in the day the poor thing hit her head on something. CR is thinking a trailer (good guess since we have about 10 of them in the "yard"). By Tuesday morning, she had a huge knot right smack on the top of her noggin. She acted fine; never disoriented. No crossed eyes. Normal appetite. Running around, acting goofy like always. No worries. We figured it would go away just like bumps go away on humans. Not so. It did not grow, but it did not shrink. By Thursday we were a little concerned, called the vet and 2 hours later were in with the vet extracting infection from the knot. They said, "but a warm pack on it and it will be fine. If it comes back, call us." By the time we got home, there it was. So CR decided to call this morning about it again. "Bring Koda in and we will see. Probably just need to extract again and give her some meds." THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN EASY! Instead, as soon as the vet feels of it, decides to do surgery to remove it. Apparently it was some sort of cyst that formed. They checked it out, no infection or cancerous scare. Just a bunch of gunk. So now she has 3 staples in her poor little puppy head. They come out next Monday. Thank the Lord for Pet Insurance. You think I am joking, right? I am not. It has been the best thing for this pup. Forget people warning us against having kids just yet ... they say they are expensive. This pup sure has a pretty good head start. 3 "hospital" visits within her first 5 months of life. Crazy! Our beautiful mess!

After the surgery ... see the small incision and staples.

I think this is my fave pic of her EVER. She looks so mischievous!
