Today my grandpa is celebrating his 81st birthday in Heaven. What a great party he must be having with all those angels, his son Steve and his other family ... and The best Guest of all. :) We sure do miss him here but I know he is having a much better birthday up there then he would be down here. Thank you for the 25 years I had with him, Lord, and I know my grandmother was thankful for her 58, dad for his 56. This day reminds me of all the special things he always did for us on our own birthdays, as well as his last birthday dinner. We were all able to meet at La Casita in Navasota and I had just got my hair chopped off for Locks of Love. He told me that was the best present I could give anyone. He had been through cancer once and did not know it, but was about to go through it again. He knew others who had lost their hair and thought this was something very special that I did. I am going to do it again (many times Lord willing) because of how much it meant to see him smile when I told him. Each time I know he will be smiling down on me when the scissors snip the ponytail.
